Damon De Backer (°1996) is a photographer who grew up in a small village called Maldegem. Growing up, he developed a love for music and photography, sound and vision. In 2014, Damon started studying Photography at the LUCA School of Arts - NARAFI in Brussels. In the same year, he also started working as in-house photographer at the Ancienne Belgique, combining his two big interests.
Damon is, as a photographer, always looking through a frame, searching pictures in the world around him. He thinks of ways to distort their reality in order to create new alternative realities, as true as possible. On a human level, he is always on the lookout for interesting people and stories and since he believes that everyone and everything is interesting in his/her/its own way, he never stops looking. This is something that translates to his portraits in which he tries to capture the real personality of the people in front of his camera.
Damon has worked as a freelance photographer for De Morgen. He had several exhibitions in Brussels and one in Lille (France).
